Inside Team USA’s mental health movement

Team USA's mental health movement is all about creating a supportive environment for athletes to thrive. The U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC) has taken significant steps to prioritize athletes' mental well-being, recognizing that mental health is just as crucial as physical health. ¹ ² ³

*Key Initiatives:*

- *Mental Health⁸ Task Force*: Established in 2020, this task force has developed a 60-page emergency action plan and created a mental health registry of 200 professionals.

- *Licensed Mental Health Professionals*: The USOPC has hired 16 dually certified mental health and mental performance providers, offering virtual consultation services and assessments.

- *WellTrack App*: A mental health app providing online tools and courses incorporating Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.

- *Confidential Support Line*: A 24/7 support line connecting athletes with licensed mental health providers. ⁴ ⁵

These initiatives aim to reduce stigma, promote prevention, and provide accessible resources for athletes. As Dr. Jessica Bartley, USOPC's director of mental health services, emphasizes, "Mental health is wealth". ⁶

Would you like to know more about the impact of these initiatives or how athletes can access these resources?
